Beloved Star Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Famed For Roles in The Middle and Friends, Has Died at 60 Years Old.
American performer Pat Finn, who featured in beloved TV shows including Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has succumbed at 60 years old.
The comedic improv actor died at home in Los Angeles, California on Monday after undergoing treatment for cancer from 2022 onward, as reported by news outlets.
"Pat saw everyone as a friend - just potential friends he had yet to meet," his loved ones shared in a message.
They continued that he had "lived his life fully - with happiness and energy".
A Notable Career on Screen
His initial on-screen part was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he appeared as the titular character's brother.
He was also seen in a recurring role on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.
He played the part of a party host named Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in the late 90s, depicting a party host famous for delegating burdensome jobs to his guests.
Throughout the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on a variety of hit series, such as:
- King of Queens
- "Friends"
- That '70s Show
- House, M.D.
He was most recognized for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons of the show over nearly a decade.
His work in movies include It's Complicated and "Santa Paws 2".
Off-Screen Life
Beyond his television work, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.
He was part of a six-member improv team known as Beer Shark Mice.
"He coached, befriended and mentored numerous pupils over the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find a person who has an unkind word to say about him," his relatives stated.
Offering condolences, peer Richard Kind said there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Perpetually optimistic, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A great dad, a great guy," Kind wrote on social media.
Pat Finn is leaves behind his partner Donna, three children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
