Dean Henderson Had little to do to perform before the break until tested by an opponent's bent shot. One well-timed sliding challenge against Qazim Laci highlighted his anticipation. 6/10

The debutant Challenged against Albania’s main danger in their forward. Played more centrally to begin with but moved out wide after Saka entered the fray. Seven

The defender Advanced up the pitch on the ball, as he has done previously. Sometimes was too casual in possession and the approach was shelved at half-time. 6

The tall defender A constant threat at set pieces, per usual, but may be a replacement to his teammate in defense rather than alongside him. A loose distribution after the break almost led to a goal from the visitors. Six

The young full-back One more assured display by the 20-year-old after his first cap versus another side. Saka was unable to take full advantage of an exquisite backheel over their defense. The left-back spot looks secure so soon. Seven

Adam Wharton His first start for his country. A bit careless when playing out but his dangerous set-pieces caused problems. A handy pace-controller for the manager to call upon against sides that sit back. Booked after a reckless challenge. Six

Declan Rice Set-pieces from corners and free-kicks created chances. Was given freedom to move on the left only to be offside upon receiving in front of goal. Granted a well-earned rest after an hour. 6/10

The star midfielder Operated in a forward position on the right and put in dirty work. Showed moments of class and scuffed an effort over. Substituted in the closing stages by a teammate, his competition, following a yellow card. Seven

Jarrod Bowen Had England’s best chance of the first half, his shot smartly stopped from the Albanian keeper. With Quansah hanging back, it fell to him to stretch the play on the right but his crosses from wide areas varied in quality. Substituted with 15 to go. 6

The captain The match-winner scoring seventy-seventh and seventy-eighth goals in an England shirt. The first a typical opportunist's goal and his next a superb header having drifted away from his marker. Aged 32, his form is unwavering and England stand a real opportunity in future competitions when he's in the team. 8

Eberechi Eze Found it tough to influence play from the left. Was presented with a decent opportunity following a pass by the midfielder but the keeper made the save. Rashford had a greater effect after coming on. 5/10
